CLIENT AND BACKGROUND:
Our client,Golam Moula Rony , is a very learned person, as well as a popular personalityof YouTube. His speech and column very popular and he is quiet a well-known asa tv personality. He is also an ex-member of parliament.
He was my clientfor another project in Bashundhara. Unexpectedly he got a land at Aruna Pollifrom his close relative at a very lucrative price. He approached me for adesign of a house there. Second house for his weekend days in quite peaceful nature.
The site is oppositeof Jahangirnagar University. At that time, the area consisted of vacant plots withtrees and bushes all around.th e site only had a multistoried building on thenorth side, on the opposite side of the road. At the end of the road is thebeautiful masjid of Aruna Palli.
Concept:
Designing threedifferent types of design. The first type conventional one with split punch in livingarea with 3-bed and other functions. The second alternative was a split typefunctions surrounding the stair. Functions and space were created on different floorson landing. Last one was different unusual new concept. waterfall usually fallsfrom heigh land to low level mainly in lobby area in open space not normally inconfined space. In this concept waterfall falling inside the space and allother functions and spaces in different level surrounding the waterfall.
WATERFALL:
Waterfall in thenucleus of this house, it began from the roof top and descended to ground floor.Its journey start from zero volume and volume increase according to its journeydownward and ended in ground floor in a big hall room covered with glass fromfloor to ceiling all around. Most of the area in ground floor occupied by hallroom for sitting and dining except service area like kitchen, store, staffaccommodation and porch for 2 car parking.
Double heightaround waterfall. The upper floor is connected with the ground floor with acircular stair and visual connection with void around waterfall and with otherspace. Tempered glass is provided from floor to ceiling around the buildingexcept north side, which is the front side /road side.
Till date, thereare no structures in east, west and north side. Only beautiful trees and busheswith birds, flowers and an open sky. This type to nature cladded privacy is veryrare. From the hall room, the entire south-side is a bed of green lawn and eastside is a sanctuary place for deer’s, with an artificial water fall fallingfrom 32’-0” height. At the east side of the hall room is a space for differenttype of flightless birds. All outside spaces are connected to the Hall space withverandas.
A wide circularstaircase, covered throughout with glass, climbs from the ground floor to 2ndfloor and roof level. In first floor, a large family room faces the two storiedwater fall and connects all the bed rooms. The master suit, with sunken studyroom and verandah and other two bed room with attached toilet and veranda areon this floor.
Clints desired aspace which will be secluded with full privacy from other spaces. This roomwill be his meditation- prayer-writing and study room. Thus, one room on rooffor study cum bed room provided with toilet and veranda.
In open roof insteadof swimming pool, a jacuzzi has been provided with jet warm water for physicalfitness and relaxation. So, avoiding any shelter on jacuzzi.
SOUND OF WATER:
Sound of watercan be heard and enjoyed from most of the spaces and parts of the building.
At night, whenwater descend from waterfall upper level to lower level, with under water lightit will look like milky way galaxy in night sky.
